Examples with 果然 The dictionary says that 果然 means "really". Is it the same as 真, 其实, 实在 or 确实? Can you explain the differences among all of them? 谢谢

果然 has two meanings. 1) it means "really" "asexpected" for example, someone told u that Tom is very very tall but u have never met him before. one day, u see someone and ur friend tells u that the guy is Tom, then u can say: 他 果然 很高。 it means he is really tall. 2) it means something follows what we expected. for example, your wife is very tired today, and u think she cant get up early next day. in fact, ur wife get up at 11 o'clock. then you can say, 我的妻子 果然 没有早起。 it means your wife didn't get up early (as u excepted).

果然,it means "that's true." for examle:果然名不虚传。 Really have a well-deserved reputation 但果然更含有事实与想象的一样,不出所料(just as expected).
