Depending on the context "want" can be similar to "want to" (싶다).
But there is an actual verb, want ,
I always want something new,
Just compare this to, I want a shave (I want to shave). We can use

To want in korean is 고싶어요, 요 here is to make the speech formal :
I want to go to school =
I want to eat Kimchi =
And for the negative "I don't want to..." we say
I don't want to go home =
I dont want to watch tv =
I hope this will help, i just learned that from a friend ^^
