What the person is saying is that: 1. Because they told the truth they were *very* *very* embarrassed. It's just kind of slang to say we went beyond a feeling. For example, If I said I was "beyond angry." This would mean that I was not just angry, but that I was really - really angry! 2. beyond here could be changed for "not within" or "past." However, beyond would be the correct choice.
