On a basic live, that simply means acting like one's boss -- the manager who one works for. Depending upon the context and who says, "like a boss", it could be Negative:
1) "bossy" (liking too much to tell people what to do)
2) acting in charge when one really is not
Positive:
1) embracing one's authority, leading legitimately
2) being proactive
The expression is most often used negatively, especially if there is no boss/employee relationship between the two people.

The term '.....like a boss' means to do the afore mention verb phrase with complete mastery. I believe the phrase spawned on the internet a few years, although I'm unsure of its specific origins. Usage: "It was her first time to make a stir fry but she cooked those vegetables like a boss. Everyone said it tasted delicious.”,”Jim dives like a boss. I hears he's dived to depths of over 100 meters before." It can also be used on its own in response to an impressive action. E.g. Jim get the prettiest girl in the bars number. On walking back from the bar to his friends he might say "See that bitches! Like a boss!" .... Maybe she was impressed with his diving credentials,
