What does "free range" mean in the 1st sentence? More recently, a rise in fraud has made high value products like organic and free range particularly vulnerable. In one case, an Italian gang were jailed for selling organic soya beans which were found to have been treated with pesticides. What about "vulnerable"? Does it mean that high value products are more likely to be fraudulent?

Yes, you understand the sentence :) "Free Range" refers to a style of raising livestock/(meat), where they are not fenced in small enclosures, but have large fields (ranges) that they can freely walk.
