"The hell with hockey"" big thumb finger" What're those supposed to mean Joey: (to Ross) Hey! Here's the birthday boy! Ross, check it out : hockey tickets, Rangers -Penguins, tonight at the Garden, and we're taking you. Ross: Today's the day Carol and I first.. consummated our physical relationship. (Joey is puzzled.) Sex. ..You know what, I-I'd better pass on the game. I think I'm just gonna go home and think about my ex-wife and her lesbian lover. Joey: THE HELL WITH HOCKEY , let's all do that! Chandler: (trying to stop Ross leaving) C'mon, Ross! You, me, Joey, ice, guys' night out, c'mon, whaddya say, big guy, (Pretending to punch him in the stomach.) Huh? Huh? Huh? Ross: What are you doing? Chandler: (stops) I have no idea. Joey: C'mon, Ross! Ross: Alright, alright, maybe it'll take my mind off it . Do you promise to buy me a BIG THUMB(someone said this word should be replaced by FORM, and I have no idea) FINGER?

"The hell with hockey" means forget about hockey and I agree with the suggestion that it's "big foam finger." A big foam finger looks like this: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/85/Grady_Sizemore_Foam_Finger.jpg They're sold at sporting events.

You can use "to hell with ..." or "the hell with ..." (any noun). It means you don't really care about that thing (hockey, in this case), there is something else you would much rather do (stay at home and think about his ex-wife). Let's go see a movie. To hell with a movie! Let's go ice-skating. (I would rather go ice-skating than see a movie.) Let's watch hockey. The hell with hockey! Let's stay home and think about the ex-wife.
