I agree with Peter that you should give them their Russian name and then a very approximate English word. I'd go for a kind of 'bun', which is generic term for a small, soft, round, bread product. By the way, you'll never get any kind of agreement between English speakers when it comes to the names of baked goods. These things are very localised. There are not only the expected US/GB variations, but even within countries there are many different terms.

I would call them "pyraniki" and explain that they are like what UK English speakers would call a "scone" and what perhaps US English speakers might call a "biscuit. I would then describe the ingredients. In other words, there is no exact "translation" for a unique national dish or food.
