How to improve vocabulary ?
Hi, I am not a native English speaker, but I would like to speak(learn) it like a native one. I know my vocab is not rich enough. How to learn and remember lots of words ? And what about the phrases and idiom ? Currently, I am studying masters of electrical engineering, so I can't find enough time to find all these stuff !!

Batman,
I would recommend reading classic English literature. English literature has a rich history, and in my opinion is some of the best in the world. For an extensive, thorough vocabulary, I would recommend reading books from different periods, as this will help you see the development of the language. For example, reading Dickens would be excellent for your vocabulary, but people don't talk like that anymore. Another reason I recommend reading is that reading will enable you to remember words in context. If you are struggling to remember a definition, just think back to the sentence where you first encountered the word, and you may find that you can remember the definition.
If you do decide to read, I would recommend these authors:
-Charles Dickens (19th century)
-Jane Austen (19th century)
-JK Rowling (modern)
-CS Lewis (20th century)
-Mark Twain (American, 19th century)
I would also recommend Shakespeare (16th century), but his work can be confusing because the language is outdated, so I don't think Shakespeare would be good for your vocabulary. However, he is one of the greatest authors of all time.
Not only can you read English authors, but you can read foreign authors translated into English. Some excellent books:
-Don Quixote
-The Odyssey
-Crime and Punishment
In addition, read some great books from your native language that have been translated into English. Be sure to choose a well-known book, because otherwise you might get a poor translation. Reading books you are familiar with will help you to get the "feel" of a certain word even without knowing the exact definition. One book that is excellent for this (I find) is the Bible. However, if you're not familiar with the Bible, choose another familiar book.
Good luck! I hope you find that reading English literature is both enjoyable and helpful in developing your vocabulary!

For learning vocabulary, the best method that has always worked for me was drawing a picture of the word, or maybe associating it with a word it may sound like in your native language and then make the connection there. Maybe that will be helpful for you, too? :)

If you can't find time to study, then you will mostly like fail in increasing your vocabulary. There is no magic "silver bullet" for instant knowledge. Possible solutions are (1) take lessons with a teacher or (2) use electronic flash cards.
www.quizlet.com is one such website that makes it easy to create your own flash card sets (with pictures if desired). You can even download IELTS or TOEFL word sets that others have created.
