I need help immediately
1. what is the difference between commune and communicate?
2. "If I had helped, I should not have been able to find my way" > Doesn't It means I didn't help so that I was able to find my way. But the answer I was given is:" without helping, I should not have been able to find my way". At this state, It means that I DID help and was able to find my way. doesn't it sound contrast? To me I think it should be "Without helping, I was able to find my way". doesn't it?

Hi Thien,
1. Commune and communicate look similar but are not related in meaning. A 'commune' (noun, related to community) is a large group of people sharing a common living place. 'Communicate' (verb, noun form is communication) means to share information or ideas etc...
2. I think you mean 'would' instead of 'should' for it to make sense. With 'would' both sentences make sense, though they mean opposite things.
Your understanding of "If I had helped, I would not have been able to find my way" is correct and " without helping, I would not have been able to find my way" means the opposite.
I hope that helps!

Another meaning for commune IS related to communication. To commune (kuh-myoon) is a verb meaning to converse or talk, usually with intensity or intimacy as thoughts and feelings are shared. It is pronounced a little differently with this meaning than what Greg shared (kom-yoon).
