Classmate?

Mr. Google say "alumnus or alumni". alumnus - 1 alumni - plural, more than one People who went to the same school as you? Is that the meaning? If so, thanks, I've learned a new Chinese word. It looks like literally "school friends". So I wonder how you say "school friends". :)
