When to use "終了する" vs "終わります”？
I realize that 終了する is an action verb meaning "to finish" as in doing something. Yet I will never really hear people say this often (or I'm just not trained in hearing this word yet). I usually hear people use 終わります/終わりました/おわった/etc.

Could someone on here give me some example sentences of the differences between these and when to use which (or are they perfectly interchangeable?)

終了します　is interchangeable  with 終わります
終了する　is intercangeble with 終わる
終了 sounds slightly formal.
終わりました and 終わった are the past.

generally the rule is that if it is a Chinese loan word, then it is less likely to be used in informal settings. So, my guess would be that this might be used in more formal writing.
