What is the meaning of this Persian legal term? What is the meaning of this Persian legal term: ضامن اجرة المثل زمان تصرف Thank you for your answer. This is not Arabic, well many of the words are, but it is a legal expression used in Persian. The entire phrase is : متصرف در ملك غير ضامن اجرة المثل زمان تصرف است واگر ساختمانی را تلف كرده ضامن قيمت روز تلف است Looking up a dictionary ضامن یعنی عهده دار تاوان اجرة المثل یعنی اجاره بها که پس از تمام شدن مدت اجاره از روی میزان اجارهً نظایر آن معین میشود Even with the dictionary explanation I am still not sure what exactly اجرة المثل means, probably because there is no exact equivalent in English for it. It seems to mean that if a tenant stays past the rental contract then what he owes for over staying is not the same as what he was paying as rental prior to over stay, but can be a higher amount based on comparable rentals. If this is the meaning of this word it is kind of strange to have an expression for something like that, unless over staying past rental agreements period is so common in Persian speaking communities that such an expression in arental agreements became the norm. I am not sure so I like someone to confirm, but I think what the phrase means is the following: "The squatter on the property is not the same as a tenant that over stays on the property when the rental period ends, and if the squatter has destroyed a part or entire property he is responsible to pay for it at the current value of the property." Thank you for your input.

You know, Persian language has been impacted by Arabic somewhere. Unlikely what author is saying, you have to search out in Arabic to revised the meaning again.

I think you should reconsider this sentence, because it looks more or less Arabic.
