Can someone who doesn't like Seafood go to Japan? I am currently really considering moving to Japan in the future as I love almost every aspect of Japanese culture. But there is one thing I do not like Seafood, even the thought of eating any of it makes my stomach turn. Could someone who doesn't like Seafood live in Japan?

Hey Nathan, I lived in Japan for a couple of months and I was pretty much the same. Meat is quite common in Japan so you can definitely survive. Having said that, Japan is what made me like seafood! I would say go in with an open mind but you will get by in either case!

Lol, yeah man. They even have McDonnalds there. Lots of chicken, also hamburgers and hotdogs are not that hard to find. But Japanese seafood is nothing like seafood from the U.S. ... I know your from Australia but I am sure that Japanese seafood is nothing like the seafood you guys eat over there either. Not even in Japanese restaurants in our respective countries. It's way better and the Japanese are true artesian craftsman of culinarily cuisine ... did I use enough fancy food words to describe how incredibly dedicated they are to making the best of the best fine dining? I think not. Words do no justice to the precision and care they put into their food. Like this is not fancy restaurants either... even vending machine bentos (which one can live on) are made with more precision and care than you'd expect. So I urge you to get drunk, get adventurous, and try the fish. I think you may like it. But yeah, Japan is comfortably survivable without eating any fish. You'd just be missing out on one of many great things Japan has to offer. Bon voyage. I'm not sure you guys (Australian English) use this borrowed (from Italy I think) term but it means have a good trip.

There are lots of Japanese people who dislike seafood as well. We usually also eat meat, dairy product, vegan diet, things like that. Some people have Japanese food; some have Italian food, Chinese, French... If you come to Japan, I'm sure you'll be able to have plenty of choices! So, you don't have to worry about that :)
