Cockney: ‘Arc to bruise a tato. - What that 'Arc' may be?
The meaning is clear:
'Arc to bruise a tato - don't allow them to bruise even one potato.
But I cannot make my mind what that " 'Arc " could be? 'Harken", 'harsh' or something else?
The description dates to 1911.

Kimberley's right. And in the clip you can hear he says 'hard.' Well, he omits the 'h' sound so it's more like 'ard' but anyway.

Is 'Arc' a typo perhaps? Seems like it should be 'Ard but I'm from the US, so not an expert on Cockney at all.
