Usually a suburb is smaller than a medium to large size village. But a suburb can be larger than a small village or a hamlet. It will be a case of having to look on a map.

Hello Eb1, I think you mean suburb. A suburb is an outlying district of a city that is usually residential while a village is defined as 'a group of houses and associated buildings, larger than a hamlet and smaller than a town, situated in a rural area.' I hope this helps. If you have any more questions, please feel free to contact me. If you are looking for English lessons, check out my profile or send me a message =)

A village has a small population (a few hundred people), usually has no commercial center, and is often isolated. A town has a larger population (a few thousand people) and has a commercial center. A city can range from 10,000 to several million people. A suburb (sub-urban area, sub-urban city) is a fringe area to a major urban center. For example, a person might live in London (a dense urban city) or in the London suburbs (cities near London).
