Question about "bir" What does it mean when "bir" is placed directly before a verb? For example; Öyle bir bakıyorsun ki.. Buraya bir otur. Can it be used before any conjugation of a verb and does it have different functions when used with different conjugations? Thank you!

"Öyle bir bakıyorsun ki" can mean "You, looking like such" Here "bir" is used as a "such", an adjective. "Buraya bir otur" can mean "Sit here a little" Here "bir" is used as "a little" and used as an adverb. These examples use "bir" as different figure of speeches. You can use some more examples below: - Bana bir baksana => "a little" - Olur da onu bir görürsen, selamımı ilet = > "if by any chance ..." - Maalesef bir işim çıktı => "some" (used before an object) So basically, the meaning of "bir" can change according to the context of the text and what verb its conjugated with.

turkish is a bit complex :) in first sentence bir is used for making emphasis, second it is used for making priority. but I'm unsure there using iş correct

I’ve voted for the best explanation on your question hopefully you get what u need . Basically we use the numbers when we want to emphasize something. And yeah we even use with conjugations for exp: Bir susmadı gitti.( Litterally it means “ he hasn’t shut his mouth even for a moment”)
