Hey Alisa, how are you? The phrase is not correct. As a matter of fact, the sentence ''you gotta be kidding me'' is considred to be an informal phrase for ''You can not be serious!'' or ''I don't believe it!'' or even ''This can't be true!''. It is more commonly used in spoken English to show that you are very surprised at something that somebody has just said. Not only are the form ''you gotta be kidding me'' correct, but so are the forms ''you're kidding me'' and ''you must be kidding me''. The pronoun ''me'' may be ommited from the idioms concerned. Here are some examples: 1) ''Did you hear about Sarah? It seems like she got promoted!'' ''Oh, you gotta be kidding me!'' 2) ''I was robbed last week! I could not get over it yet!'' ''You're kidding? Oh my God, we all lack safety these days!'' 3) ''My sister has just won the lottery!'' ''You must be kidding me? I've been playing the lottery for years and I have never won it! Now comes your sister who has started playing it for only a fortnight and already won it? Oh God, that is truly unfair!'' Hope that helps!!!

INCORRECT: "It supposed to be you are kidding me"? CORRECT: "You gotta be kidding me." This is a colloquial expression for the more grammatically correct: "You have got to be kidding me." As Luiz said, it means 'you can't be serious' or 'I don't believe you'. A: I don't watch TV anymore. B: You('ve) gotta be kidding me.

It means: I don't believe in whatever you're saying, because it doesn't sound to be true. Or you surprised me so much that I can't still believe that what happened is true. Even if that's true.
