Can someone please explain me how to learn and understand the structure of chinese characters? I'm starting to learn chinese but i don't understand how can i memorize them, not only by writing them all over again, but understanding it's structure and definition. How can i do that? Thank you.

The chinese radical table, that's what you may need to check out ^^ and don't forget the writing orders, that's important as well.

I have no idea how I could recite them even now...

Hi Laura, the best way to get a hand on to Chinese characters is to understand radicals which are key to their meaning. I would recommend a book: Chinese Characters by Leon Weiger. It is available on Amazon. The book is classic one and handy guide to anyone looking for Chinese characters analysis.

The chinese characters have some different structure,such as left-right (亻+ 二 = 仁)、up-down(田+ 心 = 思),and so on。I suggest you can memorize the simple characters,like left-左,right-右,up-上,down-下,sun-日、moon-月,big-大,small-小,much-多,few-少。Maybe,we can make a friends to prcatice the language more often。
