A path = a route that will take you from one place to another in one continuous section. A Path = a series of steps to take to achieve something. It can be a dirt path or a path to solve solutions or to achieve something. "the path to happiness is through god/allah/shiva whoever if you are religious" "the path to Timbuktu begins at the next crossroads, jump off the bus and it is signposted on your right" A route is a connected series of different steps you must take to get to somewhere or to achieve something. There is some overlap between the two. In everyday use a path tends to be short and traverses through open countryside but this is not always the case. a route may involve using paths or "footpaths" for part of the route (journey). study the examples in these links. https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/path https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/route

Path simply means away that can possibly bring two people together as well as it means a small road. Route can be described as a route that links or a direction to which planes, ships, cars or motor bikes can apply enrouting other directions.

path is more like small direction, and route is always used to describe new areas. but both mean the same, as a way of moving direction. Like, " why dont you take this route. Ooh, instead of that path this one is shorter. Or, isnt that route a bit more confused than the original path.
