Wikipedia is very good for this kind of question. I went to Wikipedia--the English wikipedia, en.wikipedia.org. I typed "brazil currency" into the search box. The top hit was "Brazilian currency." I clicked on it. The article is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brazilian_currency That article lists the names of ten currencies and the dates in which they were in use. The last two on the list are: cruzeiro real = 1,000 cruzeiros; from August 1993 to June 1994 real (modern) (R$), pl. reais = 2,750 cruzeiros reais; from 1994 to present Each currency links to an article about it, and some of them have pictures. I am wondering if yours might be the one shown in the pictures at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brazilian_cruzeiro I also found a picture of a 5000 cruziero bill here: https://www.banknoteworld.com/brazil-5000-cruzeiros-1993-unc.html I found it by doing a Google Images search on "brazilian 5000 cruzeiro banknote." The back of it shows a man sitting at a piano or some similar keyboard instrument. The bill says on it "BANCO CENTRAL DO BRASIL, 5000 CINCO MIL CRUZEIROS." The 5000 cruzeiro note seems to have been a common one.

The correct way to say this is, "I have a 5000 Brazilian Cruzeiro bill/note." 'Currency' in this case is uncountable and refers to the monetary system of Brazil -- not the individual note. In answer to your question... No, the Brazilian Cruzeiro is no longer in circulation. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brazilian_cruzeiro
