Your suggestion “put somebody in his place” does not have the meaning you describe. The other suggestions don’t really convey surprise. I was surprised that his behavior changed. His behavior changed abruptly for the worst. Her detached behavior surprised me since she had been so warm in our previous encounters.

If someone suddenly changes his behaviour from being friendly to being aloof, you could say he is "giving you the cold shoulder". You could also say he "snubbed you" or gave you the "brush off". To describe such a person, I might say they are "ungracious", "condescending" or "dismissive". Hope this helps

Hi, no I am not looking for an obscenity. Imagine the situation Somebody change his behavior from friendly to profesional. I am shocked. Can I say: He put me in my place or he took me down a peg? Can I use it both?Have they both same meaning? Manny thanks

I'm not sure what you are asking. Do you want a name for such a person? A good retort? Is this person a jerk, an idiot, a bully, or someone who requires an obscenity to be correctly identified?
