Raw courage is mostly good. "Courage" is a very positive word. Adding "raw" in front of a good attribute means that you have a lot of that attribute, and you don't try to hide it. "Bob was shocked by the raw beauty of the landscape." "The supermodel in the red dress exuded an air of raw femininity." Sometimes, it might have the connotation that you don't have training. "He has a lot of raw intelligence--he can figure things out very quickly. If he studies hard and learns more, he can become a real genius." "She has a lot of raw strength--if she improves her agility a bit, she can become a world-class athlete." By the way, "temerity"= bravery+insubordination. If you yell at your boss, you have a lot of temerity. "rashness"=bravery+stupidity or bad judgment or lack of planning. If you try to fight 30 men without a plan, you are rash. "temerity" and "rashness" are both rare words.
