“Compulsory” is more commonly used when you’re talking about a law like compulsory auto insurance or compulsory retirement in certain countries or industries like airline pilots but the words are synonymous.

I agree with Vladimir, I can't think of any difference whatsoever. But it's spelled mandatory.

They seem to be complete synonyms :)
