There is no point providing ... Or there is no point IN providing etc ? What generally follows no point ?

As stated in previous answers, both are okay to use, but adding "in" is more common, at least in the U.S.

To my mind both are fine. I would normally use "in" in writing, and leave it out in speech. Perhaps it's a matter of preference, or of regional difference? I don't know.
