I remember this day, My friends and I planned to go visit a shelter here in Nairobi. This is a place that abused girls who have run away from their homes due to abuse or they actually have no homes are housed. We bought gifts, necessities like sanitary towels,underwear and things like that. We were also able to talk, encourage and mentor them and they were really happy. As we were leaving after spending the whole day with them, one girl came up to me and told me that I am very beautiful and very kind hearted and also when she grows up she wants to be like me.She also said that she really appreciates us coming to see them and I've never felt an appreciation so genuine.She even gave me a gift of a painting she had done herself and I remember her every time I see it.
