Jordan Nguyen the author of the Ted talk, titled “Technology is reinventing humanity”, talks about how is technology advancing years past years. In past decades we have seen an improvement of technology and there are always new inventions that have the purpose of creating a virtual life. We are living more in the virtual world of social media rather that the real and concrete world, it happened talking with our friends about the people we met online, the strangest things we saw, the horrible new we read, the newest pair of shoes bought on a online shop and much more. Technology scientists and experts have made products that have improved our day to day life, and have also helped people with disability. It has been created a wheelchair that have a display and two cameras pointed on the eyes of the user and according to his movements the display understands what the person is saying and what is looking for. Consequently, they created an oculus rift that allows us to enter in a virtual world and create a virtual self, so there are higher chances that in the not-so-distant future, we’ll be able to copy ourselves thought the time, and visit our past selves. Dr Jordan Nguyen’s, the first time he tried the device, he was able of enter in a living room and watching a music tv programme on a virtual television, when he took off the helmet he thought he really had experienced those moments. Within 3 days we could be able to create a virtual version of ourselves, the more time we will spend with the computer the more it will know about us and we’ll be the exact copy of our virtual version. After these experiments, he started questioning himself what could happen if we could be able to talk with our grandparents, many will be happy to meet their ancestors but others wouldn’t do that because that would mean reliving the loss. So as we can see there are people who support positively these changes while others not. (FOLLOWS IN THE NEXT POST)
