I would suggest: When I'm looking for girls to date, I'm more concerned with their personality than their appearance. I prefer a girlfriend who has interests that are similar to mine.

For #1, I would say any of these things: "I look at her character, rather than her appearance." "I look for what will last, rather than what will fade." "I look for depth rather than the superficial." For #2, I would say: "I hope she will have common interests and common values with me." For #3, this is unusual but I would say: "I want for us to be birds of a feather."
