On the 24th, I spent the evening with my friends at a small Christmas party we had planned weeks before. We exchanged little gifts, took too many photos, and laughed about things that probably wouldn’t be funny on any other day. The room was bright and lively, and for a moment, it felt like time slowed down just so we could enjoy being together. I went home a little tired but completely satisfied. Then today, on the 25th, I switched from the noisy fun of yesterday to something calmer—dinner with my family. We went to a restaurant we often visit on special occasions, and even though the menu wasn’t especially Christmas-themed, the meal felt warm simply because we were all there together. After dinner, we shared a cake at home. It wasn’t fancy, but cutting it together and talking about small things made the night feel complete. After the celebrations, as I’m sitting in my room now, the quietness feels different—softer and more thoughtful. Maybe it’s because of the contrast between the two days: friendship yesterday, family today, and now this quiet moment alone.
