Yesterday, I went to go "hatsumode". Typically, people do it on new years day, January 1st. And my family always do in the same way as it. But, in this year, my father and brother caught a coldđ„ș So, we couldn't visit the local shrine, and did that later than usual.
In hatsumode, there are some traditional customs. Firstly, before entering the shrine, you make a bow in front of "Tori(éł„ć±
)â©ïž", the sacred gate of shrine. And you must not go through center of this gate. Then, you do "temizu(ææ°Ž)đ§", purify your hands in order. The order is that left hand, right, and mouth. When you pray, there is a traditional act. Two bow, two claps, praying, and one bow. If you buy new "omamori(ćŸĄćźă)", you should give back old one to the shrine. It's not mean like disposing.
Today, I wrote about a part of hatsumode. Probably, regardless of interest in Buddhism, hatsumode is a important event for us. Eating osechi, soba, and ozoni, and spending good time with family or friend. These make me be positive for the new yearđ
