Hi, I’m Jonatan, a native German speaker living in Jena, a beautiful city in the center of Germany. I’m a law student and work as a freelance translator on the side, translating from Chinese to German. I’m deeply passionate about language learning and helping people to achieve their language goals.

I’m a firm believer in the principle of “learning by doing”. If you want to improve your German, you need to spend a lot of time using the German language, speaking it, hearing it, reading it, and writing it. That’s what I want to help you with. My lessons are all about you actively using the German language. I adjust my lessons to your level and your specific goals. I give you feedback about your pronunciation, your grammar, and your choice of words and tell you how to improve. I write down important things from the lesson in a document and send it to you.
I offer conversation practice (free conversations or structured conversation praxis), textbook-based lessons, and test preparation. Meine Stunden und mein Unterrichtsstil
German Lesson:
Textbook-based lessons: We work with a textbook chosen by either you or me, this includes speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and homework (if you want).
Test preparation: We will not only practice your specific test, but I will also analyze your weaknesses and work with you to improve them.
Conversation Practice:
In free conversations, we just talk about anything that comes to mind, just like a normal conversation in real life. I will correct your mistakes by writing down the correct way of saying it.
In structured conversation practice lessons, we follow a textbook and only do the speaking exercises. That way we cover a wide range of topics.Mein Unterrichtsmaterial

I’ve been having conversation practices with Jonatan. He is a very good teacher, always asks interesting questions and is very knowledgeable. He corrects mistakes and tells me the right way to say things. Classes are always interesting. I’m pushed to speak more than I usually do and the depth of the conversation is always slightly out of my comfort zone but still manageable. Highly recommended!
