The concept of the silent 't' in American pronunciation overturns my previous understanding. I believe it's common that most people find it challenging to change habits they're used to; it takes time and effort, a process that Phil emphasizes requires frequent practice, ideally every couple of hours. Fortunately, with his professional linguistic experience, Phil understands the difficulties I face with some pronunciations as a Chinese student. He leverages this understanding to adjust his teaching methods to my situation, which aids my ongoing efforts to improve my American English pronunciation.

It's a relief to know that there is a teacher who can teach (and challenge!) a proficient speaker. Phil is able to point out anything that sounds even slightly off, despite the fact that I speak with a British accent. Our main objective, however, is improving my understanding of phonology so that I could deliver better lessons, whether I'm teaching English or Czech. Our first two lessons were very informative and pleasant. Speaking with someone who is so passionate about the subject is a delight.

Phil is a real teacher and a great professionist. I am writing "real" because I have already tried in the past to improve my accent with native speaker teachers, but what happened is that we spent hours talking about our lives and various subjects, with very nice chats, but in the end I was keeping all my mistakes, with no improvements at all. This has never happened with Phil: he is very prepared, he knows what to do and how to do it. I am seeing a progression in the lessons, we started with the basic phonetics sounds, we went through some "shadowing" exercises (which I loved), we focused on connecting words and on stressing the right words. I have always thought not to have an aptitude for the English accent, but now I see an improvement in my pronunciation, I am so happy about that and I want to go on. Thank you Phil!
