My name is Reb Noyekh (or Noah Barrera in goyish). I'm a career Yiddishist and language enthusiast, currently teaching at the YIVO-Center for Jewish Research. I love the language and culture of Yiddish and am passionate about passing it on to the next generation! For me, the best teacher is a life-long student. I'm currently learning Spanish and Hebrew. I've also been learning the piano! I'm also meshuggah about traveling and meeting new people! The farthest place I've been to is Australia where I met all sorts of Yiddish speakers! We're everywhere! I'm fun and relaxed, as well as very enthusiastic and passionate! I love to make students laugh with my Yiddish antics. I'm determined for my students to succeed! I stress the importance of conversation. I speak mostly in Yiddish and use English only when necessary and requested. I teach grammar thoroughly and clearly. I was Reb Noyekh's first student on italki, and what a welcome surprise it was, since I had taken lessons with him in person 4 years prior! It's really a small world out there. The lesson was great and I plan on continuing with him.

Shkoyekh R' Noyekh! I basically speak Yiddish (c1) and I could tell that Reb Noyekh is fluent and a grammar expert.
He was able to switch seamlessly from conversation to grammar lesson and back again. Very understanding, not patronizing at all. Highly recommend

Reb Noyekh does a great job of tailoring the lessons to the areas where I need the most improvement, which is everyday conversation. He helps me practice and correct how I discuss things like work, family, food etc. I feel much more confident about my regular Yiddish conversation skills now.
