Hi there! My name is Yoram. I'm a teacher, as well as a passionately driven musician, ex-student of philosophy, devoted father and an adventurous, free spirit with a lust for life.
I have a huge interest in travelling, cultures and foreign languages – probably the biggest cliché on italki – but also in music, art, people, philosophy, psychology, (holistic) health, good food and personal growth – just to name a few things.
I'm currently living in Buenos Aires, Argentina with my family. I'm enjoying the warm weather and the culture here (also very warm!), and the opportunity to learn Spanish, simply by diving in head-first.

As a language teacher, I felt more and more disconnected from the content and the methods I was using to teach: dry, fake textbook conversations, uninspiring homework exercises and whatnot…
So I began designing classes with the clear intention to make them genuinely fun and exciting for the students. The excitement would become the fuel for their progress, especially on the long term.
I'm also amazed by how children learn their native language. They go from absolute zero to a native speaker in a very short amount of time. But what’s most surprising to me is this:
We don’t even have to explain grammar to children explicitly, yet they absorb these patterns naturally, intuitively over time. Meine Stunden und mein Unterrichtsstil
The way children learn languages has become an important cornerstone in my teaching style and method. I teach Dutch through clear examples in real-life scenarios. Grammar should be a useful tool; not another obstacle in the way.
This is called inductive learning, and it helps us develop an intuitive understanding from day one. It's the fastest path to fluency and the most natural way to learn – just as children do. But more importantly, I want to turn the classroom into a (virtual) playground, where we can play with the words with the freedom to make mistakes.

I have had quite a few lessons with Yoram and have already recommended him to a few of my close friends. I love the way he tailors his lessons to what each student is looking for, as well as struggling with, and finds a way to make things feel light and playful. I get so much more out of this, and look forward to it more, than my old method of big group classes after a long work day. Definitely would recommend trying it out with him, also because he is quite open and personable.

Yoram is a wonderful teacher. He helped me pass the Dutch immigration exam! He encouraged me a lot, and the course is always fun, interactive, and helpful!
