Hello, my name is Dalexy Montoya Joya. I am a passionate geoscientist with a strong interest in teaching and literature. I hold a major in Geoscience and a minor in Biology from Universidad de los Andes, and I have also completed an oceanography course in the U.S. Besides my scientific career, I enjoy sustainable agriculture and have worked on permaculture and ecotourism projects in Morocco, India, and Spain. I am fluent in Spanish and English, and I am learning Chinese. In my free time, I love reading classic literature and exploring new topics through reading.
As a teacher, I strive to create a dynamic and accessible learning environment for all my students. During my time at the University Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah in Morocco, I taught Spanish to medical students, helping them acquire essential medical terminology. This role allowed me to develop leadership skills and discover my passion for teaching. I believe in active and participatory learning, where students feel motivated and engaged. My experience as a teaching assistant at Universidad de los Andes has provided me with a solid foundation in pedagogical techniques and student assessment.
My lessons are structured yet flexible, tailored to the needs and levels of my students. I use a combination of traditional methods and modern technologies to keep the classes interesting and relevant. Ms. Dalexy is an excellent teacher. She is patient, kind, and explains in a way that is easily digestible. My work schedule is chaotic and makes it difficult to take lessons at times. She provides me with extra class work so that I can study and practice during the long weeks between lessons. She is also available via the chat whenever I have questions, which I really appreciate and I think has helped me immensely. I am far from fluent, but I am starting to see some real progress, thanks to her. I highly recommend Dalexy and hope to continue with her as my teacher for as long as I can.
