Hi everyone!
My name is Matteo, and I'm a friendly guy from Rome who loves cooking, nature, outdoor activities, travelling, and of course studying and teaching foreign languages.
In 2015, I spent a year in Australia. This experience sparked a strong interest in foreign languages, which later led me to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Oriental Studies at the University of Rome “La Sapienza.”
During my studies, I had the amazing opportunity to spend a semester in Japan as an exchange student at TUFS.
Right now, I work as a flight attendant, and I motivate my students on their long (but rewarding!) journey to fluency.

What kind of tutor am I?
I'm not a language-learning guru who can master and teach a new language from scratch in just a couple of weeks — far from it!
I've studied many languages myself, and I'm still on the journey. Language learning, for me, is a never-ending process.
Because of that, I can guide you through the process and help you avoid wasting countless hours on activities that don't actually lead to real language acquisition.
In my lessons, I focus on a manageable amount of vocabulary at first, then work with you to actively retrieve it by building sentences and creating examples together.

What to expect from my lessons?
You can expect a supportive and engaging environment where you feel comfortable making mistakes.
My lessons are based on the Comprehensible Input Hypothesis, and therefore focus primarily on listening and reading skills in the beginning, followed by lessons centered on real communication.

I had a an original and dynamic first lesson with Matteo. My Italian was at a different level than expected, but he pivoted quickly, which I think is due to his experience and the number of lessons he already has in his repertoire. I like that he used different types of media to engage me on a reading and conversation level. I definitely came away with more confidence from this first lesson.
