Hi! I’m Veera — a Finnish language professional with a master’s degree in translation and years of teaching experience. Born and raised in Finland, and now living in Norway, I’ve got to know the ups and downs of language learning (English, Norwegian, Japanese, Russian — ask me for tips!).
I love exploring cultures — especially Japan’s — and reading a good book or playing games. My passion is also helping students speak Finnish confidently. Whether you’re prepping for the YKI test, traveling, or just starting out, I’ll make it fun and effective. I want you to feel at home in Finland!Ich als Lehrkraft
As a trained translator I am first and foremost an expert of Finnish language, and I have a minor in Finnish. I have been teaching Finnish from beginners to all the way to advanced Finnish speakers and native speaker. I have experience teaching different age groups: kids, teens and adult.
My lessons will be tailored to your wishes, goals, language level and interests. As a language learner myself I understand there are ups and downs in language learning, but I am ready to face these challenges with you. I am a structured and thorough teacher who loves to use different teaching methods and materials. I think it's important to use Finnish as much as possible in order to build good understanding of the language and getting used to how it sounds. That's why I will try to speak mostly in Finnish - even for beginners! And I will that you'll also try to use Finnish as much as possible. Don't be afraid, because I've taught people with absolutely zero knowledge of Finnish using this method - and it works! :) Of course you are free to use other languages when trying to ask questions, but please try asking in Finnish first. I enjoyed my trial lesson with Veera. I was very nervous beforehand, but once we got started she help me relax. I wanted to work on speaking and listening, and we were able to do both in the lesson. I gained some confidence in my listening and speaking ability even over a short lesson.

I’ve had a few sessions with Veera, and they’ve been incredibly productive. She’s been guiding me through reading a book, and the progress has been fantastic.
