ሰላም, Hello! My name is Fikir. I’m a native Amharic speaker from Ethiopia and an engineering student at Addis Ababa Institute of Technology (AAiT). I’m passionate about teaching Amharic and sharing my culture with others. Outside of teaching, I enjoy reading books, playing football, watching movies and try new things. As a teacher, I am friendly, patient, and dedicated to creating a comfortable learning environment where you can make mistakes and grow. I have a year of experience in teaching Amharic through different platforms online. I take the time to understand your needs and adapt my teaching style to suit your pace. My classes are a mix of structured lessons and relaxed conversations, ensuring you feel confident in speaking, reading, and writing Amharic. Let’s work together to make your language journey enjoyable and successful. I create a dynamic and interactive learning environment where students actively engage in real-life conversations, discussions, and fun activities to build confidence in Amharic. My lessons are personalized based on each student’s needs, ensuring an enjoyable and effective learning experience. For beginners, I cover fundamentals like greetings, personal pronouns, and the Amharic alphabet, while intermediate and advanced learners focus on fluency through in-depth conversations. I prepare carefully designed materials before every session to support smooth learning. My student-centered approach makes learning Amharic both engaging and practical.

Learning Amharic with Fikir is inspiring. We practiced body partsራስ (ras, head), እጅ (ij, hand), እግር (egir, foot)—and shared stories about the ህዳሴ ግንባር (hidase ginbar, Renaissance Dam) and አዲስ ዓመት (Addis Amet, New Year). We even began exploring Rophnan Tesfaye’s lyrics. Fikir teaches with patience, joy, & depth.

Fikir is an amazing teacher, he has really helped me feel more comfortable and confident in my journey learning Amharic and connecting with my heritage. He is really patient, understanding, and reminds me that it's perfectly normal to make mistakes whilst learning a language. He makes lessons engaging and fun, and I look forward to continuing with my lessons with him, betam ameseginalehu Fikir!

What I love most is how fun and every lesson is engaging, his support keeps me moving forward. As the Ethiopian proverb says, “አንድ ሰው አንድ ጭንቅ አይነት አይሰራም።” “One person cannot carry a burden alone.” Fikir’s guidance reminds me that learning is a shared journey.

Today’s lesson with Fikir absolutely blew me away. As the Amharic proverb says, ‘ሰው በሰው ይማራል’ (sew be-sew yimaral) a person learns from another person. I’m grateful to be learning from such a gifted teacher.
