Hello my name is Theodore (also Ted or Teddy) and I'm from Minnesota in the United States. I have experience as a teacher's assistant during my time at the University of Minnesota. My passion for teaching is rooted in wanting to help others reach their learning goals. While teaching English specifically I want to guide students to be more confident with their language skills so that they can feel more connected to fellow humans who share the language. My main interests are music and sports. Writing is another interest of mine as I have experience writing screenplays, blogs, poetry, prose, and more. I also watch a lot of TV/movies and play a variety of video games.
Ich als Lehrkraft
As a teacher, I am always attentive and adaptable to the needs of my students. Whether a student wants more structure or have it be more loose and conversational, I am confident in my ability to foster both environments. I am not focused on letter grades or percentages in my class. Rather I work with the student to ensure they fully understand mistakes and how to implement proper language. I also want to make sure my lessons are light-hearted and fun.
Meine Stunden und mein Unterrichtsstil
Again, I like to adapt to the students' learning style. With some, I use Canva presentations about a variety of topics to talk about and make sure to include some new vocabulary and grammar rules. With others we have a conversation as if we are talking as colleagues or friends. Some lessons are a little more specific. Like doing a mock job interview, exploring communication dynamics in work meetings, or preparing for a big test. I only give homework if the student wants it and use it to target key areas in their language skills. Overall, I like to use lesson time primarily for speaking and listening practice.
