Hello fellow language learners; I’m so glad you stopped by. My name is Ben, and I live in Milwaukee in the USA. In my free time, I enjoy dancing, cooking (and eating!), gardening and playing football. I also love to swim in Lake Michigan (a lake so large you can’t see across it!) and watch the sunrise over the water at dawn.
In the past, I’ve worked as a lifeguard, at an urban nature center, and protecting natural areas across the US. These jobs have taken me far, and given me a love for travel. While I appreciate new sights and nature everywhere I’ve been, I most enjoy talking with the people who live there. I am a deeply engaged and present teacher who focuses on your specific language learning styles and goals to ensure you will make progress efficiently. I use a fully student-centered approach and use this as a guiding principle for my teaching. This means, our lessons will be completely adapted to you as an individual learner. There is no set curriculum that I have for every student, since every student is totally different! Instead, I will develop lesson plans based on your expressed goals for learning English and informed by your learning preferences.
My second guiding principle is that if a lesson is enjoyable, it will be more effective. To achieve this, I invest in getting to know you, not just as a student, but as a whole person. Naturalist FellowAs a naturalist, I taught students from a variety of age groups and abilities – from preschoolers to adults – about the wonders of the natural world. Bachelor - Biology and Environmental StudiesMy college career was a blend of biology, environmental, education and Spanish classes. With a love for nature, and a passion for sharing my enthusiasm with others, I found my calling in an outdoor education course and have been teaching ever since!
For me, college Spanish courses that focused on text, audio and images from the real world were always the most engaging. I didn't just improve my Spanish skills, but learned the vital ingredients for learning a language effectively.

Education Activities CoordinatorFor two summers, I worked with the Summer Youth Corps program within the Conservation Corps of Minnesota and Iowa. The program emphasized career development for high schoolers through various natural resource projects across public lands in Minnesota. As the Education Activities Coordinator, I was responsible for developing and distributing learning materials to the various crews. Moreover, I managed the progress assessment for skills and knowledge of each member over the course of their term.
