I am a native Japanese teacher and translator living in Germany. I've also lived in the UK and France, and I enjoy discovering foreign cultures and their unique ways. I also appreciate Japanese traditions such as tea ceremony (茶道) and calligraphy (書道).
Teaching on italki since 2019, I love sharing my passion for languages with my students and accompanying them on their journey.

I offer Japanese lessons for all levels, using my original materials, designed to help you learn Japanese in a fun and engaging way, incorporating varied topics and activities.
Certified in 2005, I mix different techniques I find effective, based on precise bilingual instructions and comprehensible input.
I'll help you build on grammar, as well as your understanding of real-life Japanese language, society and culture, so that you will be able to express yourself with confidence and feel like yourself in that language.

Complete beginners can start from learning the Japanese characters with me (Hiragana & Katakana). It will be a bilingual lesson, so don't worry if you don't speak a word of Japanese! I'll help you achieve fluency from level 0.
From pre-intermediate level, we'll focus on applying your knowledge to more spontaneous conversations. We might also revisit some grammar points you struggle with, or introduce some new ones. I encourage you to speak as much Japanese as possible, but when necessary I can guide you efficiently and clarify fine details in your language.

Yukari is a great teacher. She is very patient if you are, like me, a rather slow learner. She adjusts the lessons to your needs, is super friendly and very knowledgeable if you have questions about various subjects surrounding Japan etc. I'm always looking forward to my lessons, can very much recommend!
