Hello! My name is Joshua. I am 27 years old, from Germany, and have been living in Japan for the past nine months. I currently work as an English teacher at an after-school program in Takatsuki. I also have more than two years of teaching experience at a tutoring institute in Germany, where I mainly taught German and English. There I worked with students of different ages and levels. I also spent a year working in a kindergarten, which gave me valuable insight into early childhood education.
In my free time, I enjoy doing all kinds of sports, especially boxing, yoga and jogging. I'm also an avid reader of novels and love listening to history podcasts.Ich als Lehrkraft
As a teacher, I aim to create a relaxed and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable speaking and making mistakes. I believe that building confidence is essential when learning a language and I aim to support you in developing fluency and ease when speaking German. My teaching style is very communicative. I encourage students to speak as much as possible while I guide the conversation, correct mistakes and explain useful patterns along the way. I enjoy helping students notice important rules and structures. I often use repetition and guided practice to help new vocabulary and grammar become natural. While I like to base my lessons on everyday conversations, I am very flexible. If you prefer, we can also focus on other areas such as writing, reading or we could do sentence building exercises.
