I am from Toronto, Canada, a city well-known for its multiculturalism. As such, I have been very lucky to have been exposed to and experienced multiple world values and views. Furthermore, my family is from Uruguay, and I have learned about and embraced all of Uruguay's cultural values. I love to travel and have spent most of the last 10 years teaching and living in Japan and Korea. In addition, I love soccer and do follow La Liga, Premier League and Serie A. I also enjoy reading, and I do enjoy watching Netflix.
Ich als Lehrkraft
I am an EAL facilitator focused on helping students reach their English goals, with 16 years of teaching experience and engaging in ongoing professional development. I have taught in universities in Japan and Canada, and spent 4 years teaching in Korea. I have taught students from all age groups and various levels of English proficiency. I am experienced in designing curricula and courses, including designing and implementing programs for universities. Furthermore, I have experience helping students prepare for English proficiency tests. I have also taught Business English classes in Toronto, and had worked for a mutual fund company.
Meine Stunden und mein Unterrichtsstil
I have and continue to teach a multitude of different English language classes using culturally relevant strategies. I have and continue to cover all 4 of the major language skills plus grammar, as well as teach IELTS, TOEFL and TOEIC prep classes, and have effectively helped students achieve their desired scores on these tests. In addition, I do have experience with different learning styles and needs, and have developed curricula and programs tailored to meet the needs of the different proficiency levels of students. In class, I do expect students to fully participate, as English is not learned passively, but by actively engaging and using it.
