Pinja

Pinja has been my teacher for one year now, and in a week I am moving to Finland. She is an incredible teacher, always takes time to explain everything and is really nice if I don't understand it and need to go over it again. Besides being patient and kind, the classes are usually really fun, especially the conversation ones, in which we usually laugh a lot and I learn by actually speaking the language. Overall, she is a really awesome person and teacher, could not recommend her more!!

Pinja is giving Finnish oral practice lessons to my 12 year old son. He enjoys the lessons, because the teacher is very nice, friendly and is able to make the lesson interesting. They play games and have a lot of useful practice. It tells a lot about one’s personality when a child is eager to go to teacher’s classes every day during their summer holidays!

Pinja was super friendly and encouraging! I felt really comfortable being terrible at a language in front of her and am positive she can help me get better 😊

Pinja is so supportive! Thanks to our lessons and her supportive attitude, I have significantly improved my conversational skills in Finnish. The change is really noticeable - before I couldn’t say a word in Finnish even though I knew some grammar and vocabulary, but now I can already handle different types of conversations! And now it feels great and fun to learn Finnish as never before because I can engage more in longer conversations with native speakers. Thank you, Pinja!

I've been studying Finnish for a few months with Pinja, and I would definitely recommend her to anyone. I like that she uses different ways to help me, i.e. we discuss topics, we chat in Finnish, we do exercises, play games, I listen and I write - we do everything! If I want, we follow Suomen Mestari, but if I feel that I need more, Pinja offers other exercises. Pinja is very patient, supportive, kind and calm, therefore I am always comfortable during the lessons. Furthermore, I love that we're flexible and we study whatever I want at the moment, depending on my needs, it's just great! The best thing is that I'm not afraid to speak Finnish anymore.

I was preparing for the highest level of the YKI test (C1) and Pinja guided me through this process beautifully. She is very friendly and encouraging and tries to boost your confidence at all times (sometimes I suspected she might be praising my performance a little too much but that might also by my imposter syndrome speaking :-D). She is very flexible and if you know what you want and where you want to go with your language learning journey, she will do her best to get you there with different exercises. We discussed all kinds of serious issues of our times such as politics and climate change (all in the target language Finnish, of course!) but we also laughed a lot, and I truly had an amazing time.
