Dimitris

I chose Dimitris as my tutor as he studied Greek language and linguistics and I could not have made a better choice. Dimitris is simply an excellent tutor. He teaches the foundation of the language in a way that makes sense and allows you to construct your own sentences confidently. If I don't understand something, Dimitris can explain it in a way that not only makes sense but encourages me to ask anything further without feeling self-conscious. He is very flexible in what he teaches and often changes the lesson plan to fit my needs. When choosing a tutor, one thing you should not take for granted is their competence in how well they speak your language, so there are no language barriers. Dimitris is fluent in many languages and I'm not ashamed to admit, he speaks better English than myself. I always look forward to my lessons with him, as they are always fun, engaging and helpful. I am very grateful to him for what he has helped me achieve and I fully recommend him as a tutor.

I've been learning Greek with Dimitris for well over a year now, and with his support I've seen incredible progress. In particular, he's worked really hard to increase my vocabulary across a wide range of topic areas, as well as focus on grammatical areas where I need more practice, such as passive verb conjugations. He's used a whole range of resources with me, from written texts to videos, ensuring coverage across the four skills. Also, crucially, he's friendly and approachable, and creates a really comfortable environment to study in. I become a more confident Greek speaker with every lesson, thanks to his skilled guidance as a teacher. Would recommend him to any level of learner, from beginner to advanced.

Dimitri is the man!! Not to knock any other teachers on here there’s many great ones! if you’re looking for a teacher to keep you engaged and accountable (I’ve created a habit now, which is something I struggle with!) in and out of the lessons with humor, flexibility and relatability you can’t go wrong with Dimitri. He has a ton of experience and understands perfectly how to perfectly tailor his speech for Lower level Greek & how to grow your Greek with lessons using the vocab and growing off of that, stressing grammar and challenging you to make full sentences λίγο λίγο! I’ve seen lots of progress in a short time and I’ll continue working with him till the end of the year and beyond!

Another excellent lesson! Thank you! I would highly recommend Dimitris to anyone looking to learn Greek. I am trying to prepare for a Greek language exam, and already in a few lessons, Dimitris has helped me come up with a good plan for approaching the exam. He has also explained to me what areas I need to focus on to improve (generally, and specifically for the exam). We have spent the class time focusing on speaking practice, and have not just been mindlessly going over the exercises I did to prepare for class (like many of us did in language classes in school). Again, I would definitely recommend working with Dimitris if you are serious about trying to learn Greek!

I've been taking classes with Dimitris for over a year now, and my Greek improved tremendously. Dimitris knows how to adjust the lesson to my level and has tons of patience and lots of teaching materials at his disposal. He has not only great command of Modern Greek, but also excellent background in linguistics and is overall a bright person and fun to talk with. I'm always looking forward to my next class with him!
