I was born in Portugal, and came to Swaziland as a child. I did my primary school education in Swaziland and my high school and university education in South Africa. I have an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Modern European Languages (Portuguese). I also have a Higher Education Diploma (Postgraduate). I'm a high school teacher.
I enjoy discussing Swaziland. I love studying, particularly languages. I have private students and it's very interesting to meet people from other countries.
I travel to South Africa often to visit my son, wife and children. I have also travelled to the UK to visit my younger son, wife and children. My family is very important to me.Ich als Lehrkraft
NEWS: In 2026 I'll have MORE TIME SLOTS available. I've been teaching Portuguese and English to children and adults since 1992. I'm very patient. Currently, I teach Grade 6 and 7 at a primary school. I've been tutoring Portuguese at the local university since 2009. I've also been a Portuguese examiner/moderator at a South African university since 2013. Privately, I tutor students from Taiwan, China, Ireland, Italy and other countries, and of course, Eswatini (Swaziland). Recently, I taught a beginner's course in Portuguese over a 6 month period to the management staff of a prominent company in Swaziland.
I also edit documents.

My lessons, both Portuguese and English, can be structured or more informal. I have several textbooks which I use. I adapt my lessons to the needs and objectives of my students.
It's very satisfying to see students learning and improving their command of the language they are studying, so I try to make the lessons enjoyable and interesting. I recommend material that I use, or online material, as the opportunity arises. I encourage the student to attain his/her potential.
It's important that students are on time for class. If they cannot attend, they need to inform me 24 hours in advance, or as soon as possible.Mein Unterrichtsmaterial

Maria is an amazing teacher! I feel like I'm learning at a better pace than when I've tried before in other learning settings. I like that she follows a book format and is helpful calling out pronunciation mistakes as needed. She also gives context and some cultural examples along the way. I'm very happy!

I had over 30 lessons with Dona Morais in the past months. I highly recommend her as a teacher. Very patient, knowledgeable, always on time. We do not just go through a book, but we talk a lot about structures and grammars, She sends me additional materials/exercises when I ask, and listens to my requests very attentively.
