I’m still learning, so I often feel like I’m not good at it.
Therefore, I totally understand the feelings of Japanese learners well.
Ich als Lehrkraft
I have been teaching Japanese since 2018 on italki. Since I began teaching, I’ve taught students, from beginners to advanced learners, from all over the world.
Also, I earned an official certification as a Japanese teacher after completing a 420-hour course on teaching Japanese as a second language.
I also teach at a Japanese conversation school in Osaka for students from all over the world.
I encourage you to speak freely and I will ask you many questions so that you can improve your Japanese listening and speaking skills, and I am 100% supportive and that I will do my best to help you study!!
Meine Stunden und mein Unterrichtsstil
I believe that learning should be fun and enjoyable. I listen closely to what students want to learn and tailor the lessons to be efficient and effective. I assure students that making mistakes is part of the learning process and provide patient, positive feedback.
I also believe that a comfortable learning environment is important so I am patient and understanding. I’m totally comfortable with mistakes, pauses or shyness in a student's conversation.
Textbooks that I have..
Beginner: みんなの日本語初級Ⅰ・Ⅱ、中級へ行こう
Intermediate:ニューアプローチ(基礎編、完成編)、Try!N3
I DO NOT have Genki.
This was my last lesson with Aiko before moving to Japan. I am very grateful that we reviewed introductions, how to ask where things are and how to ask for food recommendations. I’m very nervous and excited for my first few weeks in Japan and I honestly feel confident with some of my basics that I believe I’ll be able to communicate fairly well as I practice, study and get better. I can’t wait for my first lesson in Japan!

Every lesson is fun. This lesson that just felt particularly fun and I felt like today while I did forget a few words and struggled a little bit, I feel like I did a lot better than past lessons the beginning of the lesson when Aiko asks questions in Japanese and I respond. I felt like I had an easier time understanding and processing the questions and answering them. It felt really good to know what I wanted to say and respond

Today we learned how to say good at something or bad at something. Aiko also explained the cultural context of how to say it, who not to say it to and why to change it. I appreciate the time taken to explain the context of what we were learning about because I really want to make the effort to understand and be polite while in Japan. Aiko did a great job explaining and I look forward to practicing on my own and in our next lesson

I really appreciate that Aiko will review an help me practice each unit. I had technical troubles this time and thankfully Aiko was able to help me strategize a way to make sure we could still have our lesson. Adjectives can be tough but they’re important to practice. We learned a lot of new vocabulary and I’m going to do my best to learn it well.

This was a great lesson. I’m excited for each topic as we learn it. I appreciate Aiko’s patience and encouragement throughout the lessons. We review often so I have opportunities to really retain the information. The homework is never too difficult and I feel like it helps me keep practicing
