I’m Joe, a native Welsh speaker from Aberystwyth with a passion for sharing my language and culture.
I graduated from Oxford University with a degree in Japanese with Chinese. I was born and raised in Aberystwyth, west Wales.
I offer tuition to adults of all abilities, and share all the tips and tricks I have used to learn 5+ languages with my pupils. Many of my students would say this makes me a uniquely valuable tutor.

I have significant experience in personal tutoring and working within education more generally. I started tutoring French and Spanish at the age of 18. I have been tutoring Welsh now for over 2 years, and have developed my own personal Welsh course, which covers all levels up to C1. All of my students have access to this course.
I have also developed a number of flashcard decks, which I will share with you.
I am particularly interested in the specific issues and pain points for adult Welsh learners and have developed exercises for many such problems. These include pronunciation of 'y', use of the linking word 'yn/'n', and memorising conjugated forms of 'gwneud', to name just a few. Meine Stunden und mein Unterrichtsstil
I offer two main ‘types’ of teaching:
> Conversation - Examples of possible conversation topics include hobbies, news, language learning, and Wales/Welsh Culture. I will take detailed notes during the lesson and send them to you after the lesson.
> Grammar/Vocabulary - We will take a detailed look at Welsh grammar, suited to your level, using my course and other resources. We can go at whatever speed you like.
I can teach some grammar in conversation classes, but note that conversation is always the main focus in those classes. If you would like structured grammar classes (50+% of our time spent studying grammar), I would recommend choosing the grammar class.Mein Unterrichtsmaterial

Joe was brilliant. He was very calm and patient. He listened to what I was saying throughout the lesson and answered any questions I had relating to the beautiful welsh language. He explained everything throughly in a way that I could understand and asked if I understood what was said and if I had any questions or anything. Will certainly be booking again and will 100% recommend Joe to anyone thinking of learning the welsh language.

Highly recommend taking a class with Joe. He is very patient and great at explaining the background to words we come across in the Golwg360 articles we are using to expand my vocabulary.
