I am a father of three children and I live in Tacoma Washington, in the the United States. I enjoy meeting new people and helping people to learn. I love learning about new cultures. Some of my hobbies are reading, watching movies, hiking, traveling, and of course spending time with my family.
Ich als Lehrkraft
I believe that the best way to learn a language is through conversation. I have learned from having small children of my own, that I can communicate with someone that has little or no vocabulary. It takes patience and empathy to do so though, and I feel I possess both of these traits. Most people learn best when they are comfortable. I have a friendly personality and I would never place pressure on a student to succeed. I welcome every mistake because it is through our mistakes that we learn. I would never pressure a student to talk although I encourage it. I would never judge a student for making mistakes in grammar, word choice or pronunciation.
Meine Stunden und mein Unterrichtsstil
I teach almost completely in English, and through conversation. Visual clues, body language, and pictures are key to communicating with someone with a limited vocabulary. For more difficult words I will give a written translation from time to time, in order to aid in comprehension. Repetition is very important. Whenever I introduce new vocabulary words, I will use them often. Those words will be used in most every lesson afterword, so they are not forgotten. I believe that Grammar is learned best through conversation, although I can answer whatever question a student has. Every person is unique. I am open-minded and I am willing to teach in anyway that the student feels is best.
