Jumpei

Jumpei is an incredible teacher. He always challenges you the perfect amount. I suspect he goals to give you a "Glimps of mastery", where he helps you master the basics in a way that's useful before moving on. I went to Japan after 19 hours of tutoring with him + studying on my own. I could quickly put together simple Japanese sentences on the fly. I could actually interact with Japanese speakers. I actually spent 2 hours hanging out with Japanese speakers I met while hiking near Tokyo. One intense month practicing with Jumpei gave me more foreign language speaking ability than 3 semesters of college English. So if you want to speak Japanese instead of just write it, I recommend having Jumpei train you. Now I've done 39 hours of lessons with Jumpei, and I have much better Japanese. I'm excited about what my next trip to Japan will be like!

I learned so much in this lesson! Jumpei identified specific phrases I often use that accidentally sound impolite, and he carefully explained the problems with each phrase and then taught me what I should say instead. I really appreciated this, and I'm so glad that Jumpei taught me these things! Jumpei is a very attentive teacher. He always notices patterns in my speech and writing, and then breaks down the problems and teaches me how to fix them. Any students who are serious about learning Japanese or improving their Japanese should take lessons with Jumpei.

I have taken lessons with Jumpei Sensei for over 6 months. We started with very basic grammar and used various resources to study and practice. He will select, and even create personalized homework to help improve weaknesses and introduce new Japanese grammar and vocab to make learning feel natural. Jumpei Sensei is a professional teacher, and as such is very skilled at explaining the nuances and native flow of Japanese. Every lesson he will help you practice the correct way of speaking and help you figure out how to say what you want to say in the clearest way that your level of understanding allows. Junpei Sensei is such a great teacher. He's making sure to break all my bad habits that I was taught earlier in life. I struggle with the same things over and over, yet he's very patient and explains everything so well. Every lesson is a new learning experience and I wish that they taught Japanese in this way in America. I would have learned so much more and had a much easier time. Please give Junpei Sensei a chance, he's an excellent teacher!

Junpei Sensei was GREAT! Very good understanding of English so I felt very comfortable explaining myself. He has a very structured way of teaching and excellent in explaining. He is very much interested in teaching you Japanese the way people speak and ensures your mistakes are defined very clearly, but not in a mean way.
