My name is Louis and I'm from Bolton in the North West of England. I graduated from the University of Leeds in 2018 with a first in Arabic and Spanish, and have been travelling in Australia up until the coronavirus outbreak. I have had many jobs in hospitality and agriculture since I graduated as I wanted to expand my horizons and get more life skills. These experiences have given me a unique perspective on life which I enjoy sharing with others and with my language pupils. I am extremely fond of languages, having studied Spanish and French to a high level, I took up Arabic at university along with Portuguese.
Ich als Lehrkraft
I am a very patient and detailed teacher, and like to make my students understand why things are a certain way. I believe this helps them in further language studies and gives them the tools to progress in their own time. I enjoy talking in depth about a range of topics and encourage students to talk about subjects that interest them so that they maintain an interest in the language-learning process. I believe that my experience of learning lots of different languages has given me a great awareness of the language-learning process; I truly understand what works and what doesn't, as I have had many failures and successes in my own language-learning journey.
Meine Stunden und mein Unterrichtsstil
Once I have gauged a students strengths and weaknesses, I can plan out the best course of action for them. I believe the best teachers are flexible, and I try to reflect that in my lesson planning. Certain pupils have a natural knack for speaking but make a lot of grammatical errors and struggle at writing, for example, so in these cases I would focus more on grammar and writing skills. I would make sure that these students also have a document that allows them to visualise their mistakes rather than just listening to me tell them. This is one example of how I tailor my teaching style to each student.
